Slack integration¶
Connect a Slack workspace and DXDT meets your team where it already works: alert and incident notifications, the daily Morning Report, and a dedicated channel per war room with messages flowing both ways.
How it works¶
You connect one Slack workspace per organization via OAuth. Everything DXDT posts comes from the DXDT app using that workspace's credential:
| Surface | What DXDT posts | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Alerts & incident events | Triage alerts and incident notifications, per your severity × channel matrix | The alert channel you configure (e.g. #alerts) |
| Morning Report | The daily digest, with working Approve/Dismiss buttons | The channel set in Morning Report settings |
| War rooms | A public war-room-<incident-id> channel per activated war room |
Created automatically |
War-room channels are two-way: incident timeline entries are mirrored into the channel, and messages your responders post in the channel appear on the incident timeline (within seconds, while the war room is open in DXDT). War-room channels are always public channels.
Slack as a notification channel is available on the Growth plan and above.
Connecting a workspace¶
- Open Triage → Notification Channels.
- Enable Slack for at least one severity level — the Slack Integration panel appears.
- Click Add to Slack. You are redirected to Slack to approve the DXDT app for your workspace (you need permission to install apps there).
- On approval you return to the Notification Channels tab, which shows Connected to \<workspace name>.
- Set the Alert channel (e.g.
#alerts) and save.
Connecting Slack is also offered during onboarding. Only one workspace can be connected per organization; connecting again replaces the previous installation.
Channel selection¶
| Destination | Where to set it |
|---|---|
| Alert channel | Triage → Notification Channels → Slack panel |
| Morning Report channel | Team → Features → Morning Report |
| War-room channels | Automatic — one public channel per war room, named war-room- + the incident's short ID |
The severity × channel matrix on the Notification Channels tab controls which severities reach Slack at all; changes take effect immediately for new events.
Disconnecting¶
On Triage → Notification Channels, click Disconnect next to the connected workspace. DXDT stops posting immediately. Channels DXDT created (including war-room channels) remain in your workspace — nothing is deleted. Reconnect at any time with Add to Slack.
Troubleshooting¶
- Nothing arrives in Slack — check that Slack is toggled on for the
event's severity, an alert channel is saved, and the DXDT app is a
member of that channel (invite it with
/invite). - War-room channel exists but replies don't reach the timeline — inbound sync runs while the war room is open in DXDT; keep the war-room page open during a live incident.
- "Not connected" after approving — the OAuth flow was cancelled or failed; retry Add to Slack and approve in the workspace you intend to connect.
